Norwalk Connecticut, a medium-sized city, sits about 50 miles from New York City on the Long Island Sound in the northern part of Fairfield county. With a population of about 87,000 Norwalk is the sixth most populated city in the state of Connecticut. Norwalk is lauded as a great place to live, work and raise a family. Its historic district is a great place to walk around and window-shop, while its parks, beaches and aquarium are all fun places to visit during the weekend or summer months.

Norwalk is especially famous for its Calf Pasture Beach. The view from the shores of this beach are — with a lighthouse, islands and any type of boat ever imaginable in the distance the stay at this beach is more than pleasurable. 190 acres are also reserved for city parks, which contain walking paths, playgrounds and the occasional local artist painting the beautiful scenery. Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium is another well-known tourist attraction within the city and is a great place to take the kids on the weekends.

Besides recreation, Norwalk is also a great place because of its abundance of local businesses and great school systems. After all aren’t food and education two very important staples in one’s life? Knowing therefore that Norwalk is known for its array of local restaurants and its successful public school system is comforting. The public school system even consists of two magnet schools at the elementary level as well as Norwalk Early College Academy, which prepares students grades 9-14 for jobs within the IT industry. Graduates of this 6-year academy leave not only with their high-school diploma, but their Associates degree as well.
